Haridwar’s religious fraternity to provide nutritious food for TB patients

Members of the religious fraternity in Haridwar have come forward to participate in the campaign being run on directions of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to make the country free from tuberculosis.On Monday, the president of Akhil Bharatiya Akhada Parishad (ABAP) and secretary of Niranjani Akhada, Mahant Ravindra Puri adopted 100 TB patients and distributed nutritious food to the patients. The nutritious food will be made available to the said patients every month.
The ABAP president said, “Our mission of TB-free India has started along with officers from Uttarakhand in this mission. It is our endeavour to make Uttarakhand free of TB first. The government provides necessary medicines free of cost to patients but various nutritious items are not available for them. We have decided that ascetics and institutions of Haridwar will come forward to provide such nutritious food for TB patients,” he said.
Health minister Dhan Singh Rawat stated in a statement released to the media that under this campaign from November 21 to December 20, the districts of Almora, Bageshwar, Nainital, Pithoragarh, Udham Singh Nagar and Uttarkashi will be covered.Door-to-door identification of TB patients will be done in the six districts and active TB patients identified during this campaign will be treated through the hospitals of the area.
