Harish Rawat, Godiyal to hold fast on neglect of Gairsain

BJP has dumped Rs 25 K crore package announced by TSR for Gairsain- Harish Rawat
In an attempt to corner the BJP government on the issue of Gairsain, former chief minister and head of the campaign committee of Uttarakhand Congress Harish Rawat would sit on a fast at Bharadisain in Gairsain on December 9. Rawat would be accompanied by the Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president Ganesh Godiyal. Rawat’s plan assumes significance since the winter session of the Uttarakhand assembly is starting in Dehradun from December 9. The Pushkar Singh Dhami government had earlier planned to hold the session in Bharadisain assembly building but later changed the plan in favour of Dehradun.
Addressing media persons at Congress Bhawan here on Monday, Rawat said that he would hold the fast to highlight the neglect of Gairsain. He said that the former chief minister Trivendra Singh Rawat had announced a package of Rs 25,000 crore for Gairsain but it is not visible anywhere. “ There was no mention of Gairsain in the speech of Prime Minister Narendra Modi which clearly shows that the BJP leadership has dumped the package for Gairsain announced by Trivendra Singh Rawat,’’ he said.
Rawat further said, “This government catches cold on the mention of Gairsain. We will observe a fast there to show that Gairsain is part of Uttarakhand and the government cannot insult Gairsain.’’
Questioning the celebration being done by the BJP for Rs 18,000 crore projects announced by PM Modi during his Dehradun visit, Rawat claimed that out of these projects Rs 9500 crore projects were sanctioned during the Congress regime. He also claimed that work on one hydro electric project which was inaugurated by the PM was complete during the Congress government’s period. Rawat said that the Rishikesh- Karnprayag rail project was rolled out in the Year 2011-12 as a National Project when Manmohan Singh was the Prime Minister of the country. He said that there is no project named All Weather road and the ongoing Char Dham Yatra Sudhar Marg project was sanctioned when he was the CM of the state. Taking strong exception to the recent comment ‘ Jaisa Karega Waisa Bharega’ of state president of ruling BJP given in context with attack on Yahspal Arya and his son, Rawat said that it clearly means that Arya is paying the price for his joining the Congress party. He said that such an attitude is dangerous and highly deplorable.
Speaking on the occasion, the PCC president Ganesh Godiyal said that facing widespread opposition for closing the Dehradun- Pithoragarh air service the Dhami government has now floated a tender for the service for a period only up to March 2022. He said that the service was launched during Congress party’s rule and the fare at that time was only Rs 1800 which was later hiked to Rs 8,000 by the BJP government.
Jai Hind Jai Bharat Party to support Congress in polls
Jai Hind- Jai Bharat Party has announced its support to the Congress party for the upcoming assembly elections in Uttarakhand. The president of the Jai Hind Jai Bharat Party Chatar Singh Kashyap handed over the letter of support to Harish Rawat at Congress Bhawan here on Monday. He said that the party would not contest the election in Uttarakhand but would support Congress party candidates.
Rawat said that the party has a strong base among downtrodden sections of the society especially in plain districts of the state.
