Former chairman of the UP Shia Waqf Board Jitendra Narayan Tyagi, formerly known as Wasim Rizvi surrendered in the district court in connection with the inflammatory speech in the Dharm Sansad held here in December last year. He will now be shifted to the district jail on the orders of the court. Hearing this issue, the Supreme Court had ordered Rizvi to surrender in the court as the period for which he was granted bail earlier had ended. Earlier, Tyagi had posted a video on social media two days ago stating that he was feeling depressed and alone in the matter. At the time of surrender in the court on Friday, Akhil Bhartiya Akhada Parishad chief Ravindra Puri and Kali Sena chief Swami Anand Swarup were also present along with Tyagi. They assured him that they were with him on this issue.
In January 2022, Nadeem Ali, a resident of Haridwar Jwalapur, had filed a complaint against Jitendra Narayan Tyagi. The Jwalapur police registered a case and arrested the accused and presented him before the court from where he had been sent to the district jail. After this Tyagi was in Haridwar jail for four months. He was unable to secure bail from the lower court and high court following which the Supreme Court had granted him bail on the condition that he would not make any inflammatory speeches again.
