Hearing on a public interest litigation seeking enhancement of health services in the State, the Uttarakhand High Court has directed the respondents to examine the issue raised by the petitioner and take requisite action without waiting for further orders of the court if merit is found in the said issues. The division bench of Chief Justice Vipin Sanghi and Justice Manoj Kumar Tiwari issued this direction and also gave the State government the final opportunity to submit its reply in four weeks while hearing the PIL filed by Dehradun resident Abhinav Thapar.

According to case details, the petitioner had stated that there is a lack of proper health facilities in the State. He has pointed at issues in the one-time settlement scheme-2021 of the Housing department for hospitals, nursing homes and institutions providing health services along with aspects of the Clinical Establishment Act. The petitioner has sought special relaxations in the rules for mountainous regions to enable increase in health services in the remote and rural mountainous regions of the State.
