HC judges, citizens & children clean Nainital as part of special campaign

Uttarakhand High Court chief justice Vipin Sanghi inaugurated the State-wide special cleanliness campaign on the call of the HC here on Sunday. Various judges of the High Court, advocates, staff members and school students along with different public groups cleaned various areas of the city and the Naini lake as part of the campaign. The chief justice also administered the cleanliness oath to school students and the court officials on the occasion. The chief justice and other judges of the HC felicitated sanitation workers and representatives of various voluntary organisations for their role in maintaining cleanliness. Students of various schools also took out a public awareness rally which passed through various localities in Nainital. The chief justice and other judges of the High Court participated in the cleaning efforts in the HC premises, Mall Road, Thandi Sadak, Bada Bazaar, Tallital and Mallital Flats.
The governor lieutenant general (retd) Gurmit Singh appreciated the special cleanliness campaign undertaken across the State on the call given by the High Court. He said that it is the collective responsibility of all citizens to keep their surroundings and the State clean. He also stressed on the need to give up the use of single-use plastic and to give more space to green activities and green goods in routine life. The governor said that all citizens will have to take a resolution to protect and nurture the environment while stressing that it is the collective responsibility of all to rid Uttarakhand of single-use plastic.
Meanwhile, cadets of the NCC naval unit cleaned the Naini lake as part of the campaign. More than 50 cadets cleared more than 200 kilogrammes of garbage from the lake.
