In latest Uttarakhand news, while hearing public interest litigation (PIL) stating that some land sharks had sold off lands owned by railway, forest and revenue departments on stamp papers with values of Rs 100 and Rs 500, the Nainital High Court has ordered the petitioner to submit an affidavit attaching all the documentary evidences in support of the complaint. The division bench of the Chief Justice Vipin Sanghi and Justice Rakesh Thapliyal has fixed the next date of hearing the case at December 4.

He further said in the PIL that those who had sold government lands are not natives of Uttarakhand. As per the PIL, the land mafias had threatened the petitioner of dire consequences as he lodged complaint on the portals of the administration and the chief minister.   He prayed to the High Court to order constitution of a high power committee to probe the documents of the government lands allegedly sold.
