The Uttarakhand High Court (HC) has directed the State government to file a report about the labourers trapped in the under construction tunnel in Silkyara in Uttarkashi district till December 2. The bench of officiating chief justice Manoj Kumari Tiwari and Justice Pankaj Purohit asked the government about the measures it is taking to save the lives of the trapped labourers while hearing a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) on the subject on Wednesday. In response the government counsel said that all life saving medicines are being provided to the labourers and the rescue operation is being monitored by the Prime Minister, chief minister of Uttarakhand and union transport and highways minister. He said that all the 41 labourers are safe. The PIL has been filed by Samadhan NGO of Dehradun.
