SIT has not completed probe despite court orders in February to complete investigation in 3 months: petitioner

The Uttarakhand High Court has issued a contempt notice to the State’s director general of police for failure to implement the orders issued by the court in the past regarding the irregularities in appointments in the State Infrastructure and Industrial Development Corporation of Uttarakhand Limited (SIIDCUL).

Justice Sanjaya Kumar Mishra issued the notice while hearing on a contempt petition filed by Almora resident Prakash Pandey.  Pandey has stated that irregularities had come to the fore appointments to various posts in SIIDCUL during 2016-17. The State government had handed over the investigation in this matter to a special investigation team (SIT) but the said inquiry has not been completed till date, the petitioner stated.

The petitioner had filed a public interest litigation filed in this matter. The High Court had ordered the special investigation team on February 16 to complete its investigation within three months. The petitioner has stated that the SIT has not completed its investigation in the matter till date. The SIT is trying to delay the matter, the petitioner has alleged. Counsels Dharmendra Barthwal and Ajay Bahuguna informed that the High Court has issued a contempt notice to the DGP and sought a reply from him.
