HC sets rules-documentation in A-4 size sheets, text on both sides
The Uttarakhand high court has notified rules regarding petitions which will contribute towards conservation of the environment. The high court has notified the High Court of Uttarakhand Rules, 2020 making the use of A-4 sheets with printing on both sides of the paper mandatory in all the proceedings. The registrar general of the high court, Dhananjay Chaturvedi issued the notification regarding this on Friday.
It is pertinent to mention here the rules have been notified in pursuance of an order issued two weeks ago by the single bench of the high court comprising justice Lok Pal Singh. As per the rules, the petition, memorandum of appeal, affidavit, counter-affidavit and other documentation will be filed in A-4 size papers with material being printed on both sides of the paper. Those rules, gazettes, government orders and rules which are available online will not have to be attached along with the petitions and other affidavits. Further, the rules have also fixed the font size of the text to be used for typing on the pages. A format has also been fixed for filing fresh cases with the time for filing fresh cases being set between 10 AM and 1:50 PM. The court has also set rules for removing defects in the petitions. For hearing of urgent cases, the application letter will have to be presented with urgency mention in the court in the morning instead of being submitted in the registry office. The court will fix the time of hearing such matters at that time itself.
