A total of 1,376 nurses will be appointed in the State’s Health department. Some of these nurses will be presented their appointment letters by chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami at the CM residence today. With such a considerable number of nurses being appointed in the department after a gap of 12 years, this development will fill the posts of nursing officers lying vacant in government hospitals in distant areas for years and help strengthen the health services.
The Medical Health and Medical Education minister Dhan Singh Rawat informed that on the one hand the government is improving the infrastructure in government hospitals and on the other hand it is making the required human resource available. Through the Uttarakhand Medical Service Selection Board, the government has made appointments to 1,376 posts on the basis of year-wise merit. Out of these, 200 nurses will receive their appointment letters from the CM on Sunday.
The rest of the selected candidates will receive their appointment letters in the districts they have been allotted. The minister further said that all the appointed nursing officers will be posted in hard to access (Durgam and Ati Durgam) category health centres in the mountainous regions of the State. This will strengthen the health services in the distant areas of the State, he said.
During the past years, the Health department has appointed 1,465 medical officers, 172 dentists, 19 dental hygienists, 1,081 Auxiliary Nursing Midwifery (ANM) workers and 52 paramedical staff, Rawat added.
