Acting tough on the doctors and other staff deployed on the Yatra who have not joined duties, the state health department has started holding their salaries. On the stern view adopted by the director general (DG) state health services Dr Shailja Bhatt, the chief medical officer (CMO) of Pauri has ordered that the salaries of those doctors and other staff should be stopped who have not joined their places of duty on Char Dham Yatra. He also directed that the nursing staff should also be deployed in Yatra on a rotational basis of 15 days. The CMO has said that the salary of the month of May of the employees would be held if they are not joining Yatra duty assigned to them. Meanwhile the CMO Rudraprayag has prepared a report of the doctors of other districts deployed on the Yatra duty who have not joined duty yet. He has sent the report to the CMOs of the district concerned from where the doctors and other staff are deployed on duty in Rudraprayag district. The CMO of Rudraprayag has also informed the DG health services about the need for deployment of more doctors and staff in the Kedarnath bridle path.
The DG health services Dr Bhatt claimed that improvement in the health services in Yatra routes is clearly visible now. She said that the medicines are available in sufficient quantity and the health advisories are displayed at all vital places on Yatra. The DG said that health screening of the pilgrims is being done at many places and the 108 ambulance service is working with promptness.
