With the permission of the election commission in view of the model code of conduct remaining in force, 246 medical students on completing MBBS courses under the bond system have been deployed at various government hospitals across the State. Informing this, the State health minister Dhan Singh Rawat said on Wednesday that this move has highlighted the State government’s commitment to provide better healthcare facilities to one and all in the state.
“As a part of this move, 246 doctors who have recently graduated from various government medical colleges have been posted in various districts under the bond system. I have directed all the chief medical officers to allot hospitals to these bonded doctors based on vacancies,” he added.
Earlier, the health department had sought permission from the election commission for the deployment of these newly bonded doctors. “As soon as the approval was received, the directorate general of health handed over the list of new doctors to the CMOs of districts,” he informed.
Rawat further informed that he has also directed the departmental officers to deploy new MBBS doctors on a priority basis in hospitals located on the Char Dham yatra routes as well as remote and mountainous areas of the State. “The State government is prioritising the deployment of doctors along the yatra routes and hilly areas so that health facilities are easily accessible to the locals and the pilgrims visiting Char Dham,” he said.
He further said that it is mandatory for all these MBBS students who have studied at subsidised rates offered by the State government as part of the bond system to serve in the hilly areas of the State for five years. “Deployment of these new doctors will certainly enhance health services in the hilly areas of the State, benefiting the common people immensely,” Rawat averred.
