Following the flak it received for lack of doctors and facilities when the injured passengers of Pauri bus mishap were taken to the Pauri district hospital, the State Health department has deployed 18 doctors including nine specialists in the hospital. The Health minister Dhan Singh Rawat said that on the complaints received from the general public the Health department has taken over the control of the Pauri district hospital in its hands. The hospital was being operated under the Public Private Partnership (PPP) mode till December 30 last year. The minister said the department has now deployed surgeon, paediatrician, gynaecologist, pathologist, anaesthetist and ophthalmologist in the district hospital of Pauri. He claimed that all the newly appointed doctors have taken charge. Rawat said that apart from doctors 34 other employees including nursing officers, lab technicians, X-ray technicians have also been deployed in the hospital. The minister said that with the deployment of radiologist, the hospital has started providing the facility of x-ray and ultrasound. He said that soon four more specialist doctors would be deployed in the hospital. The minister added that if needed, more specialist doctors will be deployed in the Pauri district hospital under the National Health Mission (NHM). The director general health has been asked to conduct walk-in interviews of the doctors.
He averred that the State government is working consistently to strengthen the health services in the State. The minister added that the health department is trying to remove the paucity of doctors by conducting recruitment drives of health officers and specialist doctors.
It is pertinent to mention here that after complaints of lack of doctors and other facilities after the Pauri bus accident the chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami had sought a report on the district hospital from the district magistrate of Pauri.
