In view of the sudden rise in temperature and its adverse effect on health, the State Health department has issued a heat wave alert in Uttarakhand. The Health secretary R Rajesh Kumar has issued an advisory regarding the heat wave. He has directed all district magistrates and chief medical officers to keep stock of medicines, IV fluids, ice packs, ORS and other necessary equipment. Kumar said that the medical staff should be trained on identification of diseases related to heat wave, monitoring and reporting of patients of the heat wave. All the health units have been directed to make cold drinking water available.
He said that an awareness campaign should be undertaken about the diseases during the summer season.
