Health dept making special preparations for Yatra: Rawat

A state health department gave a presentation on the Char Dham Yatra in the meeting chaired by the union health minister in New Delhi on Monday. The health minister Dhan Singh Rawat said that the union health minister gave his clearance to most of the points suggested in the presentation of the health department. He said that the officers have been directed to prepare a DPR within a week which would be sent to the union health ministry.
Rawat said that special preparations are being made by the health department in view of the expected increase in the number of pilgrims in the Yatra this year. He said that Medical Relief Points (MRP) on every one kilometer on the bridal path of Kedarnath, Yamunotri and Hemkund would be set up. Doctors, pharmacists and paramedics would be deployed in sufficient numbers on Yatra routes and ECG machines, portable oxygen cylinders and medicines would be made available to them. The officers of the health department also gave a proposal of upgrading the Primary Health centers (PHC) of Badkot and Bhatwadi in Uttarkashi, Ukhimath in Rudraprayag and Joshimath in Chamoli to the union health minister in the meeting.
The meeting was attended by the health secretary R Rajesh Kumar, additional secretary Amandeep Kaur, chief medical officer of Chamoli Dr Rajiv Sharma, Rudraprayag CMO Dr HCS Martolia, Uttarkashi CMO Dr RCM Panwar and other officers of the State health department.
