The Health department and the Municipal Corporation of Dehradun (MCD) have prepared a joint strategy to deal with the menace of dengue in provisional State capital Dehradun.

The strategy was prepared and discussed in a meeting of the health department and MCD here on Friday.

A training session was also organised on the occasion for the Asha facilitators, supervisors and inspectors of MCD.

The district surveillance officer, Dr CS Rawat said that all the Asha workers should visit every household and make people aware about sanitation.  He said that people should be informed that they should clear the water collected in and outside their houses twice a week. The water collected in the pots and other places should be decanted so that the chances of hatching of larva get reduced. Dr Rawat said that the Asha workers should work in coordination with teams of MCD for source reduction activities.

The senior city health officer Dr Avinash Khanna directed the inspectors and supervisors that they should undertake fogging activities in the areas earmarked by the Asha workers.  District Malaria officer Subhash Joshi informed about the spread of dengue.

The chief medical officer (CMO) of Dehradun Dr Sanjay Jain said that the meeting was organised for better coordination between the health department and MCD.
