In order to achieve the target of 100 per cent vaccination till December 31 the state health department should administer 1.76 lakh vaccines a day. In the last 10 days the health department has administered 3,82,422 doses of vaccine
The data released by the SDC foundation shows that a total of 77,18,047 people have been administered the first dose while 59,80,299 have received both shots of the vaccine till December 21. It means that a total of 1,36,98,346 vaccine doses have been administered.
As per the data of state health department a total of 77,29,466 people are needed to be vaccinated in the state which means that the department has a target of 1,54,58,932 vaccine shots.
The Founder of SDC foundation, Anoop Nautiyal said that with less than 10 days remaining now the department would miss the target. He said that based on the current pace of the vaccination it is expected that 10 to 12 lakh doses would remain to be administered on December 31.
He said that the carelessness shown by people towards vaccination could prove costly as the Omicron variant is posing a challenge and the assembly elections are round the corner.
Nautiyal said that the government is now left with only one option which is to adopt a stringent attitude towards those who are reluctant to get vaccinated. He said that since a situation of health emergency is being witnessed the government should make it compulsory for everyone to get both doses of vaccine.
