To enhance the staffing at the newly established model vaccination centre at Gandhi Shatabdi Eye Hospital, the Health department has submitted a letter seeking additional personnel to the Prantiya Rakshak Dal (PRD) and other relevant departments. Recently, Health minister Dhan Singh Rawat, along with the Dehradun district magistrate and Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Dr Sanjay Jain, inaugurated several initiatives at the district hospital, including the new model vaccination centre.

Informing further about this, district immunisation officer Dr Dinesh Chauhan stated that it has been set up within the hospital premises specifically for pregnant women and children vaccination. This vaccination centre operates differently from other centres, as it is open seven days a week, providing services from 8 AM to 8 PM daily.

He further informed that the main objective of establishing this centre, operating seven days a week, is to accommodate parents who are working and may not have time to vaccinate their children due to limited hours. With this establishment, parents can come to the centre any time and on any day. He added that the centre has also included a play area for children to help distract them during vaccinations, alleviating their fear of the process. Additionally, an isolation ward for pregnant women and children has been set up to manage serious cases in the event of allergic reactions to vaccinations.

Regarding the staff at the centre, he said that there are currently two Auxiliary Nurse Midwives (ANMs) from the district hospital, but the centre still requires additional manpower. He emphasised the need for two ward boys, two PRD personnel for security, two sanitation workers and one data entry official. Considering this, under the direction of the district magistrate, the Health department has sent a letter to the PRD department and other relevant departments about sending officials to the centre. He expects that the appointment process for the centre will be completed soon.
