Health Dept to fill vacant faculty positions in medical colleges

The Uttarakhand government has decided to start the recruitment process for the vacant posts of professors and associate professors in the government medical colleges of the State. The Health and Family Welfare minister Dhan Singh Rawat said on Wednesday that the process of recruitment in 166 faculty positions in medical colleges will start soon.
He said that the government has decided to resolve the shortage of the faculty in the medical colleges. Sixty posts of professors and 106 associate professors are vacant in the medical colleges of the State. Rawat said that the officers of the medical education directorate have been asked to send requisition for recruitment of professors and associate professors to the Uttarakhand Medical Services Selection Board (UMSSB).
The minister said that the selected professors and associate professors would be appointed in the government medical colleges of Srinagar, Dehradun, Almora, Haldwani and Rudrapur. He said that apart from removing the problem of shortage of faculty in the government medical colleges, the recruitment drive will help in providing better treatment to the patients in the medical college hospitals. The minister said that recently the Medical Education department had appointed 171 assistant professors in the government medical colleges of the State.
