Health director, Garhwal inspects health facilities for pilgrims

In latest news from Uttarakhand, to ensure all necessary health facilities for the pilgrims during the Chardham Yatra slated to commence on Friday, the director, Medical Health and Family Welfare, Garhwal Division, Dr Shikha Jangpagi came to Uttarkashi on two-day visit. Notably, Uttarkashi district houses two of the Char Dham-Gangotri and Yamunotri. She first inspected the community health centre (CHC) at Chinyalisaur and looked unsatisfied over the improper disposal of bio-medical waste and instructed the in-charge medical officer to dispose the bio-medical waste at the earliest. She also directed the officials concerned to keep ready all the medical equipment along with necessary human resources and life saving medicines at the 40- bed Covid ward built during Covid-19 pandemic for the Char Dham pilgrims.
Thereafter, she inspected the district hospital in Uttarkashi and looked satisfied over the health facilities being provided to the patients in the ICU ward and cardiac care unit of the hospital. The doctors and paramedical staffers met and requested her to ensure timely allocation of their travel allowances. She also inspected health units and the health check-up centres on the Gangotri Yatra route. She stressed on the round the clock operation of the health ATMs along the yatra route. The chief medical officer Dr B S Rawat told her that 30 Swasthya Mitras have been deployed on the Yamunotri Yatra route while 10 on the Gangotri Yatra route and three medical relief posts have been set up along the Yamunotri trekking route.
