Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has said that the health infrastructure of the State has witnessed a many fold increase in recent times. The State government is committed to improvement in the health services. He was addressing the 13th national convention on medical education at Swami Ram Himalayan University, Jollygrant on Wednesday.
He said that the State government has started a free health investigation scheme under which 207 pathological tests are being done free of cost.
Terming the founder of the Himalayan Institute Hospital Trust (HIHT) Swami Ram as the great humanist, philosopher, teacher and a saint, the CM said that he did a great service to the State by setting up HIHT. He said that Swami Ram believed that the human body is a temple of god and serving fellow human beings is the biggest form of the prayer.
Informing about the achievements of his government in the health sector, the CM said that Ayushman Cards of 42.90 lakh people have so far been prepared and a total of 5.83 lakh people have availed the benefit of free treatment under the Ayushman Bharat Yojana in the State. Oxygen plants have been set up in all the districts and the State government has provided an incentive of Rs two thousand each to the Asha workers, Anganwadi workers and the Sanitation workers during the Covid-19 pandemic. He said that recently Uttarakhand was placed second in the country in voluntary blood donation. Dhami said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s dream is to prepare capability based curriculum of medical education and the students should equip themselves with right knowledge, skill and outlook to move forward. The CM said that the pandemic of Covid-19 has given a lesson that we should remain prepared to tackle any eventuality. He opined that the medical colleges should remain prepared for the e learning along with the normal teaching and equip itself with the e module and telemedicine.
Dhami said that the medical students would determine the quality of the health services in the country so it is necessary for keeping a special focus on maintaining the quality of the education. The colleges should focus on continuously refining the skills and behaviour of the medical students.
The member of NITI Aayog Vinod Kumar Paul, the Vice Chancellor (VC) of the Swami Ram Himalayan University Vijay Dhasmana, Pro VC Dr Vijendra Chauhan, Principal Dr Ashok Devradi and others were present on the occasion.
