Number of active cases rise to 72 in the district
The Health minister Dhan Singh Rawat pulled up officials citing the consistently rising cases of dengue in Dehradun district. He directed the officials to take steps to effectively put a check on the disease without delay and ordered the district magistrate to fix the responsibility of officials for this. Directing the municipal corporation to increase fogging in the city, he said that strict action will be taken against officials responsible if the cases continue to rise. The directions of the minister come at a time when the number of active cases in Dehradun increased to 72 on Monday. The cumulative number of dengue cases is 506 out of which 452 patients have recovered and four have died so far.
Rawat chaired a meeting on Monday to review the measures being undertaken to check the spread of dengue. Citing the data, he said that the maximum number of dengue cases have been reported in Dehradun district. Rawat said that awareness campaigns should be conducted on measures to prevent dengue and that a micro plan for 10 days should be prepared and executed with inter-departmental coordination. He expressed dissatisfaction with the municipal health officer, chief medical officer and the principal of the Government Doon Medical College and advised them to remain active in executing their works. The officials were directed to ensure that patients of any ailment do not face any inconvenience. Facilities available in hospitals, measures for prevention of dengue and awareness activities should be publicised widely.
The minister also expressed dissatisfaction citing complaints of carelessness being observed in hospitals and foggind not being undertaken regularly in the city while directing the chief medical officer and municipal health officer to do the needful to resolve these issues. He also directed that the public should be made aware so that people do not panic unnecessarily. The Health department should conduct counselling and awareness programmes for this purpose, he said.
