The health of the six-day-old child who was found along with his dead parents on Tuesday in their house in Dehradun’s Clement Town area is stable, said the senior superintendent of police Daleep Singh Kunwar. The chairperson of the State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (SCPCR) Geeta Khanna also visited the infant in the hospital on Wednesday to inquire about his health condition. She also directed the officials concerned to make the commission aware of the decision taken regarding the custody of the child.
The infant, who is a boy, was admitted t the Government Doon Medical College (GDMC) hospital soon after the police found him crying between the dead bodies of his parents late on Tuesday evening. The SSP said that the police received a complaint from the Turner Road area of Clement Town on Tuesday that the bodies of a couple were found in rented house, who appeared to be dead for a few days as the bodies were swollen and had a considerable amount of blood on the bodies.
The police reached the location and found the couple’s five-day-old son who was taken to hospital for medical treatment. The SSP said that it appears to be a suicide case in the preliminary investigation. He said, “According to our investigation so far, the deceased Kashif (25) was in heavy debt to many people who were allegedly pressurising him to pay their money back. This is possibly one of the reasons they used to keep their front door locked. He was also allegedly disturbed because of a clash in his family. The deceased woman Anam (22) was his second wife.” The postmortem of both bodies was carried out on Wednesday and will soon get their reports.
The police are still investigating the matter to ascertain the cause of their deaths, said Kunwar. It is also being speculated that the first wife of the deceased will adopt the child but the SSP said, it is yet to be decided by the family members.
