In latest news from Doon, the State government is all set to launch a health policy under which the people aged above 60 years would get facilities like doctors’ consultation, pathological tests and medicines at their homes. As per the health department officers, the staffers specially selected for health teams would reach homes of such elderly people after calling them up on phone once a fortnight and provide all required facilities at their homes. If warranted, the elderly sick would be transported to hospitals. Sources further said that this initiative is an imperative in view of the transportation problems which the people living in remote villages in hills face. They added that there are about 8.70 lakh senior citizens who are holding Ayushman cards out of whom 2.91 lakh have already availed the card facilities.
