Health secretary adopts young TB patient

He becomes Nikshay Mitra of seven-year -old Joya under TB Mukt Bharat Yojana
The secretary in-charge of the health and family welfare department of Uttarakhand, R Rajesh Kumar adopted seven year TB patient Joya on Tuesday. He adopted the little girl and became her Nikshay Mitra under the TB Mukt Bharat Yojana. In a programme on the day, Kumar presented a monthly nutrition kit to Joya.
Speaking on the occasion he said that to fulfill the objective of a healthy and prosperous India, we should undertake a pledge of large scale public participation to make Uttarakhand free from the menace of TB. He called upon the public representatives, Non Governmental Organisations (NGOs), institutions and general public to come forward to adopt TB patients under the TB Mukt Bharat campaign. He said that we should accept the challenge and become friend of one TB patient and provide cooperation in their treatment and nutrition.
It is pertinent to mention here that the President of India started the Nikshay Mitra TB Mukt Bharat campaign on September 9. Under the campaign the government of India has taken a target to free India from TB till the year 2025. In Uttarakhand the campaign started last month by the Governor of Uttarakhand Lieutenant General (Rtd) Gurmit Singh in presence of chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami and health minister Dhan Singh Rawat. On the day of the start of the campaign in Uttarakhand the governor, the CM and the Health minister had adopted patients under the Nikshay Mitra Yojana.
The secretary in-charge of the health department also conducted inspections of the nursing college, hostel, under construction building of the hostel, medical education department, the office of the 108 emergency ambulance service and the secondary reference lab in Chandernagar on Tuesday.
Taking a stern note of the delay in the construction of the building of the nursing college, Kumar directed the officer responsible to expedite the work. The students of the nursing college complained about the sanitation, lack of books in the library and seepage in the building to the secretary in charge. Taking cognisance of the complaint Kumar directed the Principal to take necessary steps. The officiating director general of health Dr Vinita Shah, programme officer Dr Pankaj Singh and district TB officer Dr Manoj Verma and others officers of the health department accompanied Kumar during the visit.
