Appeals healthy people to come forward for blood donation to tackle blood shortage
Setting up an example, the Health secretary R Rajesh Kumar donated blood on Monday. Amid increasing demand for blood and platelets due to rising dengue cases in the provisional State capital Dehradun, social organisations and individuals are coming forward for voluntary donation of blood. In view of the demand for blood Kumar is consistently appealing for the general public to donate blood.
Kumar said that more blood is being issued to the patients whose platelet count is decreasing due to dengue and viral fever and this is creating a shortage of blood. He said that every healthy individual should come forward and donate blood in the nearest blood bank. Kumar said that blood is such an important gift of nature that it cannot be synthesised in the laboratory. The demand for blood can only be met by donation.
In another example of empathy for the public cause, the vice chairman of Mussoorie Dehradun Development Authority (MDDA) Banshidhar Tiwari has decided to organise a blood donation camp on Tuesday. He said that a special blood donation camp will be organised in MDDA at 3 PM on Tuesday. Tiwari said that MDDA is serious towards social works and public interest.
