Heat continues to rise in plains, light rain forecast in parts of five districts

The upward trend of temperature continued in the plains on Saturday with the maximum temperature reaching 37 degrees Celsius in Dehradun. The plains are forecast to experience the heat on Sunday too though five mountainous districts are likely to experience light rain. The State meteorological centre has forecast that very light to light rain/thunderstorms are likely to occur at isolated places in Uttarkashi, Chamoli, Rudraprayag, Bageshwar and Pithoragarh districts on Sunday. Dry weather is likely to prevail in the remaining districts of the State today.
The provisional State capital Dehradun is forecast to witness mainly clear to partly cloudy skies with the maximum and minimum temperatures likely to be about 37 degrees Celsius and 19 degrees Celsius respectively on Sunday. The maximum and minimum temperatures recorded in different parts of the State on Saturday were 37 degrees Celsius and 19.4 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun, 37.6 degrees Celsius and 16.6 degrees Celsius in Pantnagar, 24.3 degrees Celsius and 13.2 degrees Celsius in Mukteshwar and 26.1 degrees Celsius and 14.8 degrees Celsius respectively in New Tehri. Light rain was also reported in some parts of the State on Saturday with 4.5 millimetres being recorded in Jankichatti, three millimetres in Badkot, five millimetres in Auli, 5.5 millimetres in Ghat and 2.5 millimetres in Jakholi.
