Heat wave conditions likely in Doon today

Heat wave conditions have resumed in the plains of Uttarakhand with the maximum temperature in the provisional State capital Derhadun crossing 40 degrees Celsius on Monday. The temperatures are forecast to rise further today. The State meteorological centre has issued a yellow warning (Watch) regarding the possibility of heat wave conditions likely to prevail at a few places in the State on Tuesday. Apart from this, very light to light rain/thunderstorms are likely to occur at isolated places in the higher reaches of Uttarkashi, Rudraprayag, Chamoli, Bageshwar and Pithoragarh districts today. Dry weather is likely to prevail in the remaining districts of the State today. Further, surface winds are likely to be strong and gusty (30-40 kmph) in the plains of the State today.

Dehradun is forecast to witness a mainly clear sky. Heat wave conditions are likely to occur in some areas. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be about 42 degrees Celsius and 24 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun today.

The maximum and minimum temperatures recorded in various parts of the State on Monday were 41.1 degrees Celsius and 23.6 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun, 40.6 degrees Celsius and 19 degrees Celsius in Pantnagar, 28.3 degrees Celsius and 16.3 degrees Celsius in Mukteshwar and 30.4 degrees Celsius and 19.1 degrees Celsius in New Tehri.
