Heat wave conditions to continue in parts of State today

Heat wave conditions persisted in Dehradun and some other parts of the State on Thursday. The weather is likely to remain similar on Friday with the State meteorological centre issuing a warning regarding the possibility of heat wave conditions likely to occur at isolated places in the valleys of Uttarkashi, Rudraprayag, Chamoli,Bageshwar and Pithoragarh districts and at a few places in the remaining districts of the State.

The meteorological centre has also forecast that very light to light rain/thunderstorms are likely to occur at isolated places in the higher reaches of Uttarkashi, Rudraprayag, Chamoli, Bageshwar and Pithoragarh districts today. Dry weather is likely to prevail in the remaining districts of the State. Surface winds are likely to be strong and gusty (30-40 kmph) in the plains of the State.

The provisional State capital Dehradun is forecast to witness a mainly clear sky. Heat wave conditions are likely to occur in some areas. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be about 42 degrees Celsius and 26 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun on Friday.

The maximum and minimum temperatures recorded in various parts of the State on Thursday were 42.4 degrees Celsius and 26 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun, 41 degrees Celsius and 23 degrees Celsius in Pantnagar, 31 degrees Celsius and 18.2 degrees Celsius in Mukteshwar and 31.6 degrees Celsius and 20.2 degrees Celsius in New Tehri.
