The route to Valley of Flowers has been closed due to heavy rains in this region of Chamoli district. A bridge at Bamandhaun was swept away while a 20 metre stretch of the route was washed away at Dwaripera due to heavy rains in the region.
No loss of life was reported by the incidents. The forest department team reached glacier point from Ghangharia in the morning where the route was found to be damaged. The departmental team reached the site with 12 labourers who were deployed in an attempt to resume movement on the route which was expected by late on Monday.
Forest ranger Brijmohan Bharti said that the labourers with the departmental team were busy trying to restore movement on the route.
