Heavy rain warning issued after yet another clear day

There was no significant rainfall in most parts of the State on Saturday. However, the State meteorological centre has issued a yellow warning (Watch) regarding the possibility of thunderstorms accompanied with lightning and intense to very intense spells of rain likely to occur at isolated places in the mountainous districts of the State on Sunday. Thunderstorms accompanied with lightning and intense spells of rain are likely to occur at isolated places in Udham Singh Nagar district while heavy rain is likely to occur at isolated places in Udham Singh Nagar, Nainital, Pauri and Dehradun districts today. Apart from this, light to moderate rain/thunderstorms are likely to occur at most places in Udham Singh Nagar, Nainital, Champawat, Bageshwar, Pauri and Dehradun districts, at many places in Almora, Tehri, Pithoragarh, Chamoli districts and at a few places in Uttarkashi, Rudraprayag and Haridwar districts on Sunday.

The provisional State capital Dehradun is forecast to witness a partly to generally cloudy sky. One or two spells of light rain/thundershowers are likely to occur in some areas. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be about 34 degrees Celsius and 24 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun today.

The maximum and minimum temperatures recorded in various parts of the State on Saturday were 33.9 degrees Celsius and 23.8 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun, 35.2 degrees Celsius and 22.6 degrees Celsius in Pantnagar, 22.1 degrees Celsius and 15.2 degrees Celsius in Mukteshwar and 25.6 degrees Celsius and 18.4 degrees Celsius in New Tehri.
