Heavy rains likely in four districts after lull on Thursday

Thursday witnessed a lull in heavy rains and resulting disasters experienced in the State on Tuesday and Wednesday. However, parts of four districts are forecast to experience inclement weather today. The State meteorological centre has issued a yellow warning (watch) regarding the possibility of heavy rain likely to occur at isolated places in Dehradun, Pauri, Nainital and Champawat districts on Friday. Thunderstorms accompanied with lightning and intense to very intense spells are likely to occur at isolated places in the districts of the State today. Further, light to moderate rain/thunderstorms are likely to occur at many places in Dehradun, Pauri, Nainital, Champawat and Bageshwar districts and at a few places in the remaining districts of the State.

The provisional State capital Dehradun is forecast to experience partly to generally cloudy sky. Light to moderate rain/thundershowers are likely to occur, which may be intense/heavy in some areas. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be about 34 degrees Celsius and 25 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun on Friday. Meanwhile, light to moderate rain was reported in different parts of the State on Thursday with 39.5 millimetres in Sahastradhara area of Dehradun, 30.5 millimetres in Kalsi, 18.5 millimetres in Narendranagar, 17 millimetres in Vikasnagar, 15 millimetres in Khatima and 13.5 millimetres in Yamkeshwar. The maximum and minimum temperatures recorded in various parts of the State on Thursday were 33 degrees Celsius and 25.6 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun, 34.2 degrees Celsius and 25.9 degrees Celsius in Pantnagar, 23 degrees Celsius and 15 degrees Celsius in Mukteshwar and 25.4 degrees Celsius and 18.8 degrees Celsius in New Tehri.
