Heavy rains unlikely in State till August 24

The start of this week is expected to bring some relief especially in the disaster affected areas with the meteorological centre forecasting light to moderate rainfall. The State meteorological centre has forecast the possibility of light to moderate rainfall/thundershowers likely to occur at a few places in the mountains and at isolated places in the plains with intense showers likely at isolated places in the mountains on Monday. Heavy rainfall is likely to occur at isolated places in Dehradun and Bageshwar districts on August 24.
The provisional State capital Dehradun is forecast to experience partly to generally cloudy skies. Light to moderate rain/thundershowers are likely to occur. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be about 34 degrees Celsius and 23 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun today.
The maximum and minimum temperatures recorded in various parts of the State on Sunday were 33.7 degrees Celsius and 22.6 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun, 36 degrees Celsius and 26.2 degrees Celsius in Pantnagar, 23.6 degrees Celsius and 15 degrees Celsius in Mukteshwar and 25.6 degrees Celsius and 17.2 degrees Celsius respectively in New Tehri. With light rain being reported in various parts, there was 10.5 millimetres in Jakholi, 4.5 millimetres in Rudraprayag and seven millimetres in Devidhura on Sunday.
