Heavy rains with very intense spells likely in Dehradun & two other districts today

Even as parts of the State including Sahastradhara and Hathibadkala in Dehradun witnessed heavy rain on Sunday, the State Meteorological Centre has issued a yellow warning regarding the possibility of heavy rains along with very intense spells in three districts on Monday.

The centre issued the warning regarding the possibility of heavy rain/thunderstorms accompanied by lightning/intense to very intense spells of rain likely to occur at isolated places in Dehradun, Nainital and Bageshwar districts today. Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning/intense to very intense spells of rain are also likely to occur at isolated places in the State’s remaining districts. Further, gusty winds (30-40 kmph) are likely to blow at isolated places in the districts of the State today. Apart from this, light to moderate rain/thunderstorms are likely to occur at a few places in Almora, Chamoli and Udham Singh Nagar districts and at many places in the remaining districts of the State on Monday.

The provisional State capital Dehradun is forecast to witness a partly to generally cloudy sky. One or two spells of light to moderate rain/thundershowers are likely to occur, which may be intense/heavy in some areas. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be about 34 degrees Celsius and 24 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun today.

Meanwhile, light to heavy rains were reported in various parts of the State on Sunday with 76 millimetres in Lansdowne, 70.5 millimetres in Sahastradhara, 69.5 millimetres in Hathibadkala, 54 millimetres in Maldevta, 13.5 millimetres in Bhimtal, 12.5 millimetres in Nainital, 11 millimetres in Haldwani, 6.5 millimetres in Sonprayag and 4.5 millimetres in Dehradun.
