Heavy snowfall and rain forecast in State today

After a period of at least two months sans proper rainfall and snow, the weather is becoming active in the State. After two days of rain and snowfall in various parts of the State followed by a couple of days of comparatively clear weather, heavy snowfall and rain is forecast once again in the State. The State meteorological centre has issued a yellow warning (Watch) regarding the possibility of heavy snowfall likely to occur at isolated places situated at altitudes of 3,000 metres and above in Uttarkashi, Chamoli and Rudraprayag districts on Sunday.
Thunderstorms accompanied with lightning and hail are likely to occur in the remaining districts of the State today. Further, light to moderate rain is likely to occur at a few places in the State. Light to moderate rain/snowfall is likely to occur at a few places located at altitudes of 2,500 metres and above in the State today.
The meteorological centre has further forecast that the provisional State capital Dehradun is likely to witness a generally cloudy sky. Light to moderate rain is likely to occur at a few places. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be about 16 degrees Celsius and nine degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun today.
The maximum and minimum temperatures recorded in various parts of the State on Saturday were 18.4 degrees Celsius and 7.3 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun, 23.2 degrees Celsius and 4.4 degrees Celsius in Pantnagar, 14.4 degrees Celsius and -0.6 degrees Celsius in Mukteshwar and 12.9 degrees Celsius and 0.5 degrees Celsius in New Tehri. Some parts of the State experienced trace rainfall while some received light rainfall on Saturday. There was 0.4 millimetres rain in Dehradun, 2.4 millimetres in New Tehri, five millimetres in Harshil, 4.5 millimetres in Jankichatti and three millimetres in Ranichauri on Saturday.
