Heavy to very heavy rain likely in parts of State today

The State meteorological centre has issued an orange alert regarding the possibility of heavy to very heavy rainfall in isolated places of the State today. The meteorological centre has issued a warning (alert) regarding the possibility of heavy to very heavy rainfall likely to occur at isolated places in Kumaon region on Wednesday. Further, heavy rainfall is also likely to occur at isolated places in the mountains of the Garhwal region today. Thunderstorm/lightning are likely to occur at isolated places in the districts of the State. Apart from this, light to moderate rainfall/thundershowers are likely to occur at most places in the districts of the State today. The rainfall activity is forecast to escalate from September 15. According to the meteorological centre director Bikram Singh, light to moderate rainfall will be experienced in most places in the state on September 15, 16 and 17 while very heavy rainfall is likely in parts of Kumaon and neighbouring districts of Garhwal with the possibility of extremely heavy rainfall in some places. The meteorological centre has issued a red alert for these three days.
Meanwhile, on Wednesday, the provisional State capital Dehradun is forecast to experience partly to generally cloudy sky. Light to moderate rain / thundershower are likely to occur, which may be intense/heavy rain in some areas. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be about 31 degrees Celsius and 24 degrees Celsius in Dehradun respectively on Wednesday.
The maximum and minimum temperatures recorded in various parts of the State on Tuesday were 31.6 degrees Celsius and 22.1 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun, 32.5 degrees Celsius and 24 degrees Celsius in Pantnagar, 21 degrees Celsius and 14.1 degrees Celsius in Mukteshwar and 23.3 degrees Celsius and 16.8 degrees Celsius respectively in New Tehri.
