Heavy vehicles’ entry banned in Rishikesh

The police have banned the entry of heavy vehicles at four identified main routes in Rishikesh from May 2 in view of the ensuing Char Dham Yatra and tourist season. This step has been taken to reduce the traffic pressure in the Rishikesh area and maintain public safety and a smooth traffic system, the Dehradun senior superintendent of police Ajai Singh said. He informed that the entry of heavy vehicles like trucks, dumpers, and tractor trolleys among others will be completely banned in four main routes from 5 AM to 10 PM from May 2 till further orders. These first two routes are the stretches from Nepali Farm junction to Shyampur Chowki/Natraj Chowk to Nepali Farm Tiraha and from Natraj Chowk to new Roadways bus stand and Chandrabhaga bridge. The remaining stretches are from Chandrabhaga bridge towards new Roadways bus stand, Natraj Chowk, Koel Ghati and AIIMS Rishikesh and from Chilla barrage towards Koel Ghati junction and IDPL, Singh said.
