Congress leader and media panellist Garima Dasauni has said that the incident of Helang village in Chamoli district is a tight slap on the face of the Ghasyari scheme of Uttarakhand government. Addressing the media at the Rajiv Bhawan here on Tuesday, Dasauni said that a very disturbing incident was reported from Helang village at the time when Harela festival was being observed in the state and everyone right from chief minister, ministers and officers were seen engaged in planting trees. In Helang village, the CSIF personnel were seen snatching a bundle of grass from an elderly woman. She said that this unfortunate incident is a slap on the face of Mukhyamantri Ghasyari Kalyan Yojana which was launched amid much fanfare by the union home minister Amit Shah, then chief minister Trivendra Singh Rawat and cooperatives minister Dhan Singh Rawat. She said that the video of the Helang incident has gone viral which clearly shows that the women folk which were instrumental in creation of Uttarakhand are getting treated in an inhuman way. She said that it appears that the state government has gone on a sleeping mode as even after four days it has failed to take action against those who manhandled an elderly woman. Dasauni the government had given the sickle in the Ghasyari kit to women and it appears that it is given as a decorative item since they are being prevented from cutting grass as a fodder for their cattle.
Congress media panellist, Sujata Paul said that the misbehaviour by the CSIF personnel with the women of Helang village is highly deplorable and the state government should answer as to why it is striking at the right of Jal, Jungle and Jameen of the womenfolk of the state.
Launching an attack on the state government, Paul said that it should tell how many women have been registered under MGKY and how many kits have so far been distributed. She said that if the women are being prevented from fetching fodder for their cattle then the government should explain what use the women would make of the sickle.
The general secretary (organisation) Vijay Saraswat, Congress leader Godavari Thapli and others were present on the occasion.
