With the annual pilgrimage for Gangotri and Yamunotri shrines starting from April 30, the State government sources said that heli service to these two shrines is likely to be launched during this year’s pilgrimage. Notably, helipads have already been built and Uttarakhand Civil Aviation Development Authority (UCADA) has floated tenders mentioning the fare per kilometre for the heli service. If the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) team, which is to visit these two helipads next week for inspection, gives a positive report, the final nod may be given for the heli service launch. Last year, the service could not be started due to incomplete work on the helipads.
