HelpAge India organises yoga session for elderly at Kedar Valley

The HelpAge India recently organised a yoga session at Kedar Valley to promote health and well-being of elderly individuals. Informing this, the State programme officer of HelpAge India Krishna Avtar said that he had virtually engaged with the elderly community in Kedar Valley at the session.
The yoga session began with a yoga prayer and encompassed various exercises such as micro exercises, seated poses, standing poses, prone postures, supine postures, pranayama and meditation, he said.
Addressing the session, he emphasised that yoga goes beyond physical exercise, embodying a lifestyle promoting a healthier and happier life.
He also dwelt on the connection of yoga with world peace and said that one who embraces yoga contributes to world peace and happiness of all.
He reiterated the importance of daily yoga practice for people across ages, genders and backgrounds while underscoring its role in societal improvement and advancement of human civilization.
Moreover, he said that the theme for the International Yoga Day slated on June 21 is ‘Yoga For Women Empowerment’. He stressed on incorporating yoga into women’s lives to facilitate their real and all-round empowerment.
The elderly participants appreciated the yoga session and said that this promotes a healthy lifestyle beating the challenges of age.
