The portals of Hemkund Sahib Gurudwara are slated to be closed to the public for the winters on Monday afternoon. The devotees and other arriving here on the occasion this time will be greeted by a sight of fresh snow covering the Lokpal-Hemkund area with snowfall being witnessed in the high Himalayan peaks in recent days. Snowfall is being experienced in this area for two days now. The area is covered in about half a foot of snow.
The process of closing the Gurudwara will start in the morning after which the last Ardas of the year will be offered here at 1 PM. The portals of the Gurudwara will be closed to the public for the winters after this. Meanwhile, the consistent snowfall in the region has also brought with it a considerable drop in the temperature. Due to the continuing snowfall, the pilgrims travelling to Hemkund Sahib on Sunday had to be stopped for some time at Ghangharia. They were to be allowed to proceed further after the weather cleared.
