The pilgrimage of Shri Hemkund Sahib will start from May 25 this year as per announcement made by the Uttarakhand government and Gurudwara Shri Hemkund Sahib Management Trust. The decision on the date of opening the shrine for the devotees was taken   with the consent of the State government at a meeting held in Dehradun between the chief secretary Radha Raturi and the chairman of Gurdwara Shri Hemkund Sahib Management Trust Narendra Singh Bindra. The yatra will end on October 10, giving devotees nearly five months to visit the sacred shrine nestled in the Himalayas at an altitude of 15,200 feet.

This shrine is special to the Sikh devotees as the tenth and last Guru, Gobind Singh meditated and attained spiritual enlightenment at this place. Devotees from across the world undertake this challenging yatra to this holy shrine every year.

Bindra said that visit to Shri Hemkund Sahib is a unique experience that offers an opportunity for spiritual growth through self-reflection, adding that the State government and the trust have made extensive arrangements to ensure a safe and convenient journey for the devotees.
