The ongoing war of words between the senior leaders of Uttarakhand Congress took a decisive turn on Tuesday with the party high command appointing a one member committee to look into the issue.
The committee would hold interaction with the leaders of the party on the recent statements of Chakrata MLA and former PCC president Pritam Singh and submit its report to the party high command. The party would take action based on the findings of the committee. It is learnt that the high command of the Congress party has taken a serious note of the recent utterances of Chakrata strongman Pritam Singh and other leaders. The party believes that factionalism was one of the reasons for the defeat of the Congress party in the assembly elections of the year 2022.
Confirming the development the PCC president Karan Mahara told The Pioneer that he waited for one year in the hope that good sense would prevail but when things failed to improve, he decided to bring the issue to the notice of party high command. Mahara added that the morale of the party workers was also getting affected by statements of the senior leaders.
It is pertinent to mention here that Pritam Singh is consistently targeting the in charge of Uttarakhand Congress Devendra Yadav and has even termed him a political novice. Singh is consistently training his guns on Yadav. After the recent appointments of district and Mahanagar presidents, Singh again targeted Yadav by stating that he is taking decisions without consulting anyone. He added said that the person in charge of the State unit should be a politically mature person and not someone who doesn’t know the ABC of politics.
Apart from Singh, the recent utterances of the senior leader of the party from Terai region Tilak Raj Behed are also creating uncomfortable situations for the party leadership. He has recently raised questions on regional imbalance in Uttarakhand Congress by stating that all three important positions, the PCC president, the leader of opposition (LoP) in the Assembly and deputy leader in the Assembly are being occupied by the leaders of Kumaon region. He has also blamed the leadership of the State unit for ignoring him.
