In a major relief to the families residing in the colony of IDPL Rishikesh, the Uttarakhand High Court (HC) Nainital has issued a stay on the demolition of the houses. The court has also directed the State government to file a counter affidavit within four weeks in the case.
The order was delivered by the court of Justice Pankaj Purohit on the petition of Gulshan Bhanot and some other former employees of IDPL. The petitioners had challenged the July 19 order of the Uttarakhand government in which it has given information about demolition of the houses in IDPL colony.
In their plea the petitioners said that houses were allotted to them by IDPL and still the company has not paid the money of the voluntary retirement scheme and other to the employees. Though the lease of the land has expired the legal procedure for demolition has not been followed, the petitioners said.
