Higher education centres should have opened first: Agarwal

Taking exception to the government’s decision to open the schools even as the colleges and the institutes of higher education are still closed, the association of self financed institutes of Uttarakhand, Sunil Agarwal has said that it shows the attitude of the government towards education. In a statement, Agarwal alleged that the government is not sincere towards higher education. He said that it is strange that the decision on opening of schools was taken by both the union and state government but no decision is yet taken about the higher education institutes where adult students study. Agarwal said that it would have been proper if the initiation of opening was done with the technical higher education institutes and universities. “It appears that the decision to open schools was taken deliberately as the parents of children are not ready to send their wards to the schools. This reluctance of parents would be an excuse of keeping all educational institutes closed,’’ he said.

Agarwal further added that the hidden objective behind the whole exercise is to promote online education. He said when elections are being held and the big rallies are being organised then why the educational institutes are being closed.
