Higher reaches experience snowfall, rain & snowfall likely in 5 districts today

Fresh snowfall was experienced in Kedarnath and some other high altitude regions of the State on Wednesday which resulted in a drop in the temperatures in the mountainous regions. Similar weather is expected on Thursday. The State meteorological centre has forecast that very light to light rain/thunderstorm is likely to occur at isolated places in the higher reaches of Uttarkashi, Rudraprayag, Chamoli, Bageshwar and Pithoragarh districts and very light to light snow at altitudes of 3,500 metres and above. Very light to light rain is also likely at isolated places in Dehradun and Tehri districts. Apart from this, dry weather is likely to prevail in the remaining districts of the State today.
The provisional State capital Dehradun is forecast to witness mainly clear to partly cloudy sky with mist/haze likely to occur during the morning hours. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be about 28 degrees Celsius and 12 degrees Celsius respectively.
Meanwhile, the maximum and minimum temperatures recorded in various parts of the State on Wednesday were 28.8 degrees Celsius and 12 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun, 28.6 degrees Celsius and 12 degrees Celsius in Pantnagar, 19.2 degrees Celsius and 7.8 degrees Celsius in Mukteshwar and 21.2 degrees Celsius and 8.4 degrees Celsius in New Tehri.
