Himalayan Discourse to be held today at VMSBUTU

The Veer Madho Singh Bhandari Uttarakhand Technical University (VMSBUTU) is taking a step forward to pursue the aims that the State and Central governments have envisioned for Uttarakhand. In collaboration with the Himalayan Environmental Studies & Conservation Organisation (HESCO), it will host the first Himalayan Discourse today. The discourse will focus on sustainable agriculture and reverse migration, forest fonservation and natural resource management, women empowerment and rural livelihoods, connectivity and infrastructure in mountainous regions, and tourism, wellness and heritage preservation

The initiative is aimed at establishing a transformative platform for deliberating challenges and actionable strategies addressing the critical challenges and opportunities in Himalayan states of India. It envisions holistic development while preserving the ecological, cultural, and social integrity of the region, aligning with global sustainability goals and the aspirations of Himalayan communities.

HESCO founder Anil Prakash Joshi and Wadia Institute of Himalayan Geology director Vineet Kumar Gahalaut will express their views along with VMSBUTU vice chancellor Onkar Singh during the event. In addition to the key speakers, various subject experts will also inform the gathering on the relevant issues. The university is planning to make this a regular event, the discourse today being the first in the series.
