Himalayan Hospital performs complex kidney transplant

The doctors at Himalayan Hospital, Jolly Grant, claimed to have successfully performed a complex kidney transplant on a young man suffering from multiple health conditions. According to the doctors who were associated with the transplant process, the patient Praveen (29), resident of Tehri, was diagnosed with Hepatitis -C infection with his heart pumping rate of just 20 per cent and excessive calcium build-up in his arteries.  They claimed that following the kidney transplant, he had fully recovered and was subsequently discharged from the hospital.

Praveen had been on hemodialysis for the past two years due to a malfunctioning kidney. Given his deteriorating condition, the doctors informed his family about the necessity of a kidney transplant to which they agreed. The patient’s parents were briefed though about the risks involved.

The patient’s father, Jaman Singh, was identified as the kidney donor. However, upon medical evaluation, it was discovered that his kidney arteries were unusually thin, making the transplant even more challenging.

Despite these complexities, the medical team had successfully performed the transplant, said the director of Hospital Services, Dr Hem Chandra.

Congratulating the team, the president of Swami Rama Himalayan University Vijay Dhasmana said that they had plans for the expansion of organ transplant services at the hospital. He further announced that in future, Himalayan Hospital would also conduct liver, heart and pancreas transplants.
