Himgiri group of institutions was set up under Manav Vikas charitable trust in 1996 by late Laxman Dutt Kaushik and late Kuldeep Kaushik. The couple had a vision to develop the backward area of the least literate population of rural India and especially to educate girls in the area.
The group was founded at Landhaura in Roorkee area of Haridwar. Their son, Paras Kaushik is now continuing their mission while also incorporating his own vision to know about the field of interest of each student and also counselling them from time to time regarding their career, sports or education. Moving ahead under his guidance many students have succeeded in various fields- some have reached IIT, more than 40 students in the army, 15-20 students in medical science and managers in the corporate sector.
The Himgiri College of Advanced Sports and Studies principal Sunanda Kaushik says that it is the first self financed BEd and BPEd college of Uttarakhand established in 2004, first residential sports school and physical education college of Haridwar district containing the largest sports ground with all kinds of sports facilities.

It has been an English Medium School of Sports since 2007. It is providing free of cost camp expenditure for the girls interested in joining National Cadet Corps (NCC). With the government of India taking a step to open National Defence Academy and Sainik School for females too, those getting special guidance and motivation here stand a better chance to enter such institutions.
It is a premier institution for boys’ and girls’ education also providing relief to parents with single girl child- providing free education in such cases.le girl child- providing free education in such cases.
