Various Hindu groups held a protest rally and submitted a memorandum to the Uttarkashi district magistrate Meharban Singh Bisht against an illegally constructed mosque and illegal sale of meat in the city. The protesters submitted the memorandum addressed to the chief minister, seeking swift action to address these issues. The protestors gathered at Sri Hanuman Chowk raising slogans against illegal meat shops and the apathy of the district administration. They said that illegal meat shops and encroachments by members of a particular community are being ignored by the administration. If the authorities remain inactive and passively encourage such violations of the law, the Hindu community will unite and take action, the Rashtriya Sriram Seva Dal national general secretary Suraj Dabral said. Rashtriya Hindu Sangh State head Surendra Pal Singh accused the district administration of ignoring the concerns of the Hindus regarding encroachments and other illegal activities. He said that the community organisations will approach the CM against corrupt officials in the district.
